An exotic trip: Mongolia 2014

This post is a duplicate of what already posted on my facebook page, however not all readers might have seen it.

From now on, I will post some of my travel reports first here, to see if they are liked.

Last year’s trip to Mongolia was unforgettable, a childhood dream coming true.

Ulan Bataar welcomed us from the air, I had never seen a panorama like this before.

The city itself was a bit chaotic, with an impressive central square.

Soon enough we were out of the city boundaries.

We got in the mood for our trek by observing some incredible display of horsemanship just outside the city.

Amazing horsemanship

I even tried my hand at archery.

Soon we were on the road, under the ever present watchful eye of Genkis Khan.

We visited a wonderful temple.

The temple displayed amazing craftsmanship.

Very soon we were on the road, and saw our first yak.

The last signs of civilisation behind us.

A good omen for the desert crossing.

We arrived at our base camp, where the accommodation was rough.

Basic heating

It snowed overnight but was rewarded by the most memorable time trekking on horses.
